In the video above, hear from Don and Mary Anne Flournoy about establishing the Sugar Bush Foundation in an effort to build environmentally conscious partnerships between Ohio University and the Athens community. The foundation has grown to be a multifaceted platform through which sustainable development is not only possible, but continues to expand and thrive in Southeast Ohio.
The Directors of the Sugar Bush Foundation Board have come together and will be matching all gifts made to the Friends of the Sugar Bush Foundation fund during OHIO Giving Day, up to $2,500 available for matched funds. The Board helps lead the Sugar Bush Foundation which works with Ohio University and local communities to improve the quality of life in Appalachian Ohio by encouraging civic engagement and by fostering sustainable environmental and socioeconomic development.
Your gift will support the Sugar Bush Foundation in their work to improve the quality of life in Appalachian Ohio by encouraging civic engagement and by fostering sustainable environmental and socioeconomic development.
In 2005, OHIO faculty Mary Anne and Don Flournoy created the Sugar Bush Foundation to innovate a model for university-community collaboration in green and sustainable economic development. Since then, Sugar Bush has funded over $2 million in jointly designed projects in the areas of renewable energy, zero waste, environmental protection and restoration, food security, and sustainable development.
The Sugar Bush Foundation practices a model that looks for the assets in the local community and region and builds upon those. They envision a model for university-community collaboration based on equal partnership and mutual respect.
Give today to help create new partnerships that will have a positive impact on Appalachian Ohio!
