The Urban Scholars Program is a prestigious merit and need-based scholarship program for high school graduates of urban school districts in Ohio.
Urban school districts in Ohio serve a vast portion of the state’s economically disadvantaged and underrepresented students. The Urban Scholars Program was developed to bridge the gap between the cost of attending Ohio University for students who would not otherwise be able to attend due to financial challenges. One survey noted that nearly 50 percent of all college-qualified and economically challenged high school students discussed cost as being the leading reason of not being able to attend college. Gifts to the Urban Scholars General Scholarship Endowment provide opportunities for students in urban areas in Ohio to obtain a high-quality education at Ohio University.
For each student selected, this Urban Scholars Program includes a four-year renewable scholarship and participation in an annual leadership seminar. In their junior year, students receive funding to attend an approved professional conference, internship opportunities, and technology and research training.
Give today to help to make an OHIO education possible for these deserving students.
