Although this campaign has concluded, it's easy to give to Ohio University and support the Yousef M. Faroniya Scholarship Fund.
In 2016, Ohio University alumnus and Columbus-based attorney, Yousef Faroniya established a scholarship in order to give back to and remain actively involved with the OU and Athens community. As part of his vision to help students with whom he shared similar backgrounds, interests, and aspirations, the Yousef M. Faroniya Scholarship is to be awarded annually to an undergraduate student enrolled in the Undergraduate Certificate in Law, Justice and Culture.
As a Templeton Scholar himself, Yousef knew just how valuable scholarships can be for busy college students. His hope was that his eponymous scholarship would help alleviate financial stress for recipients and allow them to benefit from the full college experience throughout their time in Athens—something he felt contributed to his own growth as a person and as a legal professional.
Unfortunately, before being able to fully realize this philanthropic goal, among many other lifelong dreams, Yousef passed away unexpectedly in 2019 at the young age of 34.
Please help Yousef fulfill his vision of generosity and community, and help his friends and family carry on his legacy by contributing to the Yousef M. Faroniya Scholarship today.
Upon endowment of the Yousef M. Faroniya Scholarship, a scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Undergraduate Certificate in Law, Justice and Culture each new school year and will be allocated in perpetuity. Funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will help to increase the impact of the Yousef M. Faroniya Scholarship and the disbursement to the student recipients each year.
“I always wanted to give back to OU because my time there was just an amazing experience and just really transformative for me. I wanted to give to a specific program that I could also be involved with for the next 20 or 30 years. The overall environment of OU is so nurturing and supporting that it was something I wasn’t accustomed to before. I’m really thankful for my experience and I hope to contribute any way I can going forward.” - Yousef Faroniya
About Yousef
Yousef Faroniya, a Cleveland native, graduated from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 2006 and shortly thereafter obtained his doctorate in law from Capital University. In 2012, he went on to start his own law practice, YMF Inc., in Columbus.
He was engaged to the love of his life--a beautiful, understanding and loving woman named Gita. They were to be wed just a few months after his passing. He is survived by his parents Mazen and Ana, his brother Daniel, his many cousins, aunts, uncles and hundreds of adoring friends who miss him dearly.
Yousef loved to travel, visiting numerous destinations across the globe, making many friends and experiencing life to its fullest. In just 34 years, he was able to accomplish so much and make a positive impact on so many. And with his scholarship, he will continue to do so. Thank you for your generous contribution and for helping to sustain Yousef’s legacy.
