Celebrate International Education Week & Support International Education at Ohio University

Established by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences, International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate international education and exchange worldwide.

This year, the theme of OHIO's International Education Week efforts is Global Interconnectedness which celebrates and champions the impactful ways our Bobcat community has thrived and creatively connected and supported our campus and global communities, despite the myriad of shifts in worldwide circumstances and new modalities of delivery.

Support Study Abroad Opportunities for OHIO Students

Support student study abroad experiences with a gift to the Dr. Michael and Mrs. Marilyn Day Study Abroad Award.

You can invest in a life-changing experience for a student by giving a gift to support study abroad at Ohio University. Experiencing life abroad is one of the most impactful ways for students to expand their global perspective, increase their understanding and appreciation for different cultures, and equip themselves with the skills and leadership acumen to succeed in our increasingly connected world. Your gift will provide more OHIO students the opportunity to take part in incredible study abroad experiences.

"From an academic point, I learned more about my major and what I can do with my future. On a professional level, I have learned to communicate with people from a different background, networking, problem-solving, and adaptability. Personally I grew as a person by emerging myself into a new world with a culture I have never experienced before. I made new friends, learned a new language, tried different foods, and explored different parts of Egypt." - Atti Stafford, American University of Cairo, Spring 2020, Gilman Awardee

"Going abroad taught me so much, independence, stronger communication skills (especially if you're visiting a country where you don't speak the language), and adaptability. Going abroad can be intimidating, but the skills I picked up molded me into a braver and more confident person which is now invaluable to my life." - Maddie Valentine, Musashi University, Fall 2019

"Spending a month in Paris definitely helped me become more independent and adaptable to new environments. It also gave me the chance to work on my French, and I found the hands on approach of learning about French history through museums and monuments in the city much more effective than the traditional classroom environment." - Bryce Hoehn, France: Revolutions in Paris, Spring Break 2019

Support The International Student Emergency Relief Fund

Support our incredible international student community through a gift to the International Student Emergency Relief Fund.

More than 1,000 international students, representing over 100 countries, call Ohio University home and enrich our community with their culture, global perspectives, and passion for OHIO. The COVID19 pandemic severely impacted our international student community, leaving many unsure how they would afford rent, food, or pay bills over the summer. The International Student Emergency Relief Fund continues to provide international students with peace of mind and the ability to pay bills, buy food, or secure housing in an emergency.

Thank you Athens County Foundation

The Athens County Foundation helped to kick-off OHIO's IEW celebration with a generous gift of $2,500 to the International Student Emergency Relief Fund. They will donate an additional $2,500 gift when the fund reaches $5,000.

This campaign from 2020 supported The Center For International Studies, The International Student Emergency Relief Fund, and Dr. Michael and Mrs. Marilyn Day Study Abroad Award. All giving donors and gifts have been combined here.
