UPDATE: The Marching 110 staff and students and the Hurely Family are blown away by the outpouring of support for this initiative. Although we ended a few donors shy of our 230 donor goal, the Hurleys have enthusiastically contributed $5,000 to this campaign to celebrate the generous support of our loyal alumni and donors.
Please Help The 110 Unlock A $5,000 Gift and "Put That Bus In Gear And Drive It, Again!"
Marching 110 trumpet alumni Shawn and Tracey Hurley are challenging Marching 110 alumni and friends to step up as they did in 2019 and help the band to "Put That Bus In Gear And Drive It, Again!" They set the goal of 230 donors to support each of the members of the Marching 110 as they get back out on the road again! Once the 230 donor goal is met, The Hurleys will donate $5,000 to this campaign!
Help each of the 230 members of the Marching 110 feel supported as they get back out on the road again!
Touring by Bus
Along with providing the best half-time performance at every game, the Marching 110 performs at local high schools throughout the state, throughout the year. When the band does travel, it requires five buses to move our 230 members. At a cost of $25 per mile for the ensemble to travel outside of Athens, it costs a lot to move the band! In 2018-19, the Marching 110 traveled 3,100 miles by bus to performances across the country!
This is why we need your help to unlock the Hurley's gift! With 230 donors, the band will receive the alumni duo's gift of $5,000 which would move the band 200 miles!
The Alumni Behind The Unlock Gift: The Hurleys
Shawn Hurley, BSEE '05, BS Eng. Physics '05 & Tracey Hurley, BMUS '06
Tracey and Shawn met each other at Ohio University when they both stepped on the band field to join the 110. Since then, the people, experiences, and opportunities from their time in Athens have remained strong in their hearts and minds. They give back periodically to help others not only reach their goals but enjoy the journey as well. Tracey and Shawn currently reside in Sunnyvale, CA with their cat Ramses and have Donkey coffee beans shipped to them.
Please help us "Put That Bus In Gear And Drive It, Again!" Your participation at any level helps the band travel and provides vital support in sustaining and enhancing the experience for students in the Ohio University Marching 110.
