Although this campaign has concluded, it's easy to give to Ohio University and support Music in the College of Fine Arts.
Greetings from the Ohio University School of Music! We invite you to consider giving to the 2022 School of Music Forever Forward campaign in support of your alma mater’s students, faculty, and programs! With the return to face-to-face instruction this fall we also welcomed one of our largest and most distinctive incoming classes of undergraduate and graduate students. Our students and faculty are thrilled to be safely back in person to collaborate, learn, create, and perform together again!
With this growth comes additional needs in order to maintain our distinction and deliver on our mission to provide our students with a rich and transformative educational experience.
Our goal for the School of Music Forever Forward campaign is to receive 100 gifts through 100 generous donors by February 28, 2022. And because of the generosity of a friend of the School of Music, a $5,000 match grant will help us achieve even more! When 50 unique donors give to this campaign, $2,500 of the matching grant will be unlocked; when 50 more unique donors give, the other $2500 is unlocked. Help us meet our goal of 100 donors to unlock our donor’s generous $5,000 match! We did it. Thank you all!
Gifts during this Forever Forward campaign will help the School of Music help its students! Below represents a snapshot of some of the costs behind the music program.
Please, make a gift today in support of current and future students!
We believe there are so many reasons to give to the School of Music Forever Forward campaign in support of our students, faculty and programs! Here are but four examples that we think will make you, a School of Music grad, even more proud:
1 – Four highly-skilled, new faculty-artists joined our ranks this fall teaching in violin and string pedagogy, piano, and voice for musical theater to meet demand for these areas of interest
2 – We are once again hosting the Ohio University High School Concerto Competition in February 2022. Last year’s winners from the U.S. and around the globe received a robust scholarship to OHIO and will debut with the Ohio University Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra this academic year. The scholarship funding for the competition was partially underwritten by alumni and friends like you! We are so grateful for your generosity!
3 – In March 2022 the School of Music holds a very special residency and masterclasses with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) on the Athens Campus, culminating in a side-by-side concert on March 15 with CSO and our students in the OHIO Symphony Orchestra! The concert takes place at 7:30 PM at the Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. We hope you can join us!
4 – Acknowledging that deep, impactful learning—like the CSO/School of Music residency—is both active and participatory, we’ve made a renewed commitment to providing our students with transformative experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom and studio. We also have made community engagement and outreach, arts advocacy, entrepreneurship, and career-building central tenets of our work. To that end, we are proud to announce that, thanks to the generosity of Dr. Joyce N. Herrold, AB ’54, the Joyce N. Herrold, M.D. School of Music Experiential Learning Fund has been established to offer financial support to students as they explore internship and shadowing opportunities in the professional music world while undergraduate students.
As you can see, we are bursting with pride about our forward trajectory in service to our students, faculty and programs. Please consider helping us reach our 100-donor goal and unlock the generous $5,000 matching funds! Give what you can to the School of Music Forever Forward campaign today! We are so grateful. Thank you to all the donors! You are helping us move Forever Forward.
