Your generous gift will help OHIO Golf secure Indoor Training Facility

OHIO alumnus Joseph S. Longstreth ’69, and proud grandparent of a women’s golf team member, is providing a gift of $5,000 as a challenge to help reach the goal for this critical space. Once we hit $10,000 we will unlock a generous gift of $5,000! - REACHED

For years, the OHIO Golf program has been hindered by its limited access to adequate practice facilities that meet the needs of today's student-athletes. No more.

We are pleased to announce the completion of Phase 1 of our practice facilities project located inside the Convocation Center: the new Coach Joyce “Jo” King Golf Putting Room.

Phase 1 success: the new Coach Joyce “Jo” King Golf Putting Room in the Convo

The Putting Room is just the start

Hitting Bays

The Coach Joyce “Jo” King Golf Putting Room marks the start of these improvements and leads us into Phase 2 which will install two indoor Trackman hitting bays.

Regardless of rain, snow, or poor playing conditions, this space will allow for a controlled environment to help give us a competitive advantage moving forward. The space will be transformed from what once was a classroom in the Convocation Center, into an innovative and modern space to help mold the next generation of OHIO Golf.

With the support of our Golf alumni and friends, we can move forward in constructing this space to accommodate the state-of-the-art technology to help our student-athletes and coaches refine their play and improve our game better than ever before.

The two Trackman simulators will allow for precise measurements such as yardage, swing path, contact on the ball, and simulated courses and play.

Our goal for this component of our fundraising campaign is $115,000.

Moving OHIO Golf Forward

This hitting bays space will be transformational in the day-to-day operation of OHIO's two programs which will soon have access to both indoor training areas at their convenience, helping us prioritize class and practice time.

“What I am most excited about is the opportunity for our program to have a designated area to continue to build connections and develop chemistry,” said Men’s Head Coach Brennan Whitis. “We are grateful for this access for both teams to have a space to refine their craft and change the culture of the OHIO Golf program in a really positive way.”

“I am really excited for both of our teams to have a space of their own,” said Women’s Head Coach Kelly Ovington. “ I believe in this project and know it will enhance our program in a transformational way by securing this new indoor training facility.”

You can help build OHIO Golf's first-ever Indoor Training Facility

It is impressive and incredibly encouraging to see how many of our alumni care about this program and want it to thrive. As someone who has been a part of the Ohio Golf Family, we ask you to consider making a gift toward this project and helping us move our programs forward.

If there is interest in making a naming gift for the hitting bays, please contact AVP of Development Teri Gartland at terih@ohio.edu.
